How and why should I use DimPad Quantities?

This is an excellent method for doing manual take-off from drawings, and recording all dimensions taken, along with references and notes.

This will help with auditing the bid at a later stage.

Using the DimPads

An alternative way of adding measurement data is to use the multiple DimPads.

When your file is ‘Converted for Valuation’ four additional DimPads will have been created for each measurable BoQ item. These DimPads are used for the Claimed, Paid, Internal and Final Estimated quantities.

Each of the DimPad has a check-box on its associated Tab. Checking this box will create a link from the DimPad calculated total to the relative cumulative quantity on the Measure screen. Thus any measurements stored on (say) the “Claimed “ DimPad can be directly carried forward to the Cumulative Claimed quantity in your interim application.

You will also note that the cumulative and remaining quantity fields on the measure screen and grid will also have become none editable – denoted by their yellow background.

Leaving DimPad check-box un-ticked allows the DimPad to be used for calculating and storing detailed measure, but still allows the QS to enter an “on-account” measure using one of the previous methods.
