Linking DimPads

Copying and pasting dimensions also allows you to link the dimensions between different tabs and items. Linking means that the rows copied can be pasted, but if pasted as a Linked Item, then subsequent alterations made to the source dimensions will automatically alter on the target item.

 

To link items:

  1. Highlight the row(s) of dimensions to copy
  2. Click the mouse on the Copy button
  3. Highlight a row to insert in or copy to (this may be on another tab)
  4. Click the mouse on the Paste button
  5. When pasting to a different item or DimPad sheet Valesco offers the choice to paste as a New Item or as a Linked Item.  
  6. Select Linked Item as required and click the mouse on OK
    Note: if you ‘Right-Click’ on the linked DimPad, it will select the Bill Item it is linked to
     (shows as Red Tick in selection)


  

DimPad Reset

Often when using a previous project as a template for a new job, the Estimator wishes to keep all the Bill Items, but remove the original quantities. With Valesco v5.2 there is now a quick method to clear all DimPad entries.

 

Select the items using the DimPad, then clear all DimPads from these selected items via an upgraded Bulk Change interface.

 

Step 1 – ‘Go To’ toolbar > Select Filter

This will select all Bill Items which have a DimPad. Move to Step 2
 

Step 2 – ‘Actions’ toolbar > select ‘Dimpad Linking’

 

Select Clear All
