You will need to enter the name of each Subcontractor who will be invited to tender for the Trade package.

To add a Subcontractor to your job is only necessary to enter his name, but other details can also be added for record purposes.

To add a Subcontractor

1. From the Edit menu select Components, then Subcontractors, or select the Subcontractors icon from the Components toolbar. Valesco opens the Subcontractors table window which displays the details of Subcontractors already entered.

2. Click the mouse on New to add a Subcontractor. Valesco opens the Subcontractor window.

3. Enter a reference for the Subcontractor in the Name field.

4. Enter the full name of the Subcontractor in the Long Name field.

5. Assign the record to the Subcontractor Cost Type

6. Assign the record to a S/C Category. (If Subcontractor Categories have been set used as the Filter in the Subcontractor Comparison, only Subcontractors matching the Filter will be offered for comparison.)

There are three further fields which can be filled:

Lump Sum Adjustment – Used to record the lump sum adjustment to the prices received from that Subcontractor (e.g. a lump sum for preliminaries)

Percentage Adjustment – Used to record the percentage adjustment to the prices received from that Subcontractor. (E.g. a discount or a surcharge)

Include LS – Check the check box to apply the percentage or Lump Sum Adjustment to the rates.

Cost Type Exclusions

Cost Type Exclusions allow you to deal with Trades where a Subcontractor does not quote for all Labour, Plant and materials for the Trade package, for example where a Subcontractor quotes labour only brickwork. In this case you need to indicate the portion of the works not included by the Subcontractor.

To indicate Cost Type Exclusions

1. Click the mouse on the Cost Type Exclusions tab.

2. Check the check box to indicate the portion of cost not included in the prices (e.g. materials)

3. Click OK to close the window

Add further contact details and notes on the Address and Notes tabs as required.
